The good, bad, and ugly book was created from the critiques for black tea packaging. Christian wanted to explorer a different approach when it came to designing the layout for book. He started by sketching ideas for the layout of the book, once he decided he was pleased he went out to collect different brand samples of black tea packaging, and set them on a table to critique. Using his knowledge and the principles of design he wrote down his critiques on paper then started construct his book together.
The book is layout out in a simplified, clean yet structure way that give the reader a feel for the beautiful of the book. Each page is design with a linear line to give continuity from one page to the other.
The Collide project was designed behind the idea for different types of pollution we deal with in the United States. Created in a set of five postcards each card displays a model and a type of pollution as their headpiece all in black and white. While having their hopes and dreams showcased in full color with a mirror effect on both sides it truly reflects the model. Each headpiece is expressed as pollution designed from a collage of images colliding into one chaotic image that leaves the viewer interested in knowing more.
The Captain stands for Marine Pollution, from oil spills, to toxins being thrown into our oceans and harming not only our ocean wildlife but our ecosystem.
The Model stands for Thermal Pollution, throwing fluids into our air, and spills toxins into the rivers and lakes, that is harms the ecosystem.
The Business man stands for air pollution in the city area, the building is an ongoing process that is beautiful to admire but also release harmful to the environment.
The musician stands for e-waste pollution that is caused by electronic devices that are thrown into the ground and burn. The chemicals release from the devices not only harm the environment but also the people breathing the air that has the chemicals
The American stands for land pollution in our country, from all the trash being thrown on the ground. Fast Food is one of the biggest growing causes for public dumping on high ways, and roadsides in America.
This type expressive project was created from hand-drawn geometric shapes formatting each letter of the alphabet. The name for the title "Amalgam" came from the definition of "a mixture or blend" in other words combining of two styles one traditional and one modern into one.
With the use of a ruler and sharpie pointed pen, Christian carefully designed each letter to it's unique linear structure. Christian wanted to combine his love for geometric lines with origami but had trouble finding a solution to tie two different styles of art into one. After taking time to brainstorm ideas he established a way to tie two into one, drawing geometric lines on both the alphabet, and the origami symbolizing a letter to an animal from the animal kingdom.
The stainable project was a very interesting project for Christian, he needed to construct a product out of plastic bottles that can be reused and sold. Optimistic as Christian is, he researched and sketched up ideas then he decided to go with the idea of jellyfishes has a possible product. After creating his first jellyfish he knew something was missing, then the idea of adding sound came to him, and from there he collected different size bottles, and started constructing once again. He went to create a set of three individual models painted in a set of three colors red, blue, and purple. To make sure they weren't just visually pleasing but also beautiful to hear, he installed bells so you can hear them when the wind blow through them just like wind chimes in a garden.
Note: The design comes as a set of three models, and the logo for the product.
